Burials

Martin’s Funerals Roodepoort assists with local and countrywide burials. We offer a selection of wooden coffins to choose from. Modern funeral equipment is used to make sure we deliver only the best service. All our burials are conducted by well-trained personnels.

Repatriation

We can assist you with all the necessary documentation, including air tickets, preparation and embalming of the deceased, and preparation of the coffin – all to international destinations.

Exhumations

Exhumation in order to move a body from one burial spot to another is one of our specialised services. We arrange all necessary documentation and approvals with all applicable departments.

Registration of Deaths

We arrange all documentation with the doctors and other healthcare practitioners and handle the registration your behalf at Home Affairs. Certified copies of all relevant documents are made on your behalf.

Caskets

We offer a range of speciality caskets. Open caskets also be arranged for memorial services.

24-Hour Standby

We are proud to say that we offer a 24-hour standby service should you need assistance at your home. Arrangements can be made during office hours or by appointment on Saturdays or after hours.

Embalming

Embalming for preservation can be carried out by highly qualified staff. Certificates of embalming issued on request.

Farewell Ceremony

A ceremony held to celebrate a person’s life who is at the end of his or her life (prior to passing away) – whether terminally ill or frail. It could be informal gathering of family and friends around the person’s chair or bed – or a more structured ceremony at a venue. There is no better time to express love and all those things we should’ve, would’ve, or could’ve said if we found the right time.

Save-a-Fur-Baby Pacemaker Donation Initiative

In December 2023, we started our Save-a-Fur-Baby Initiative, where we assist with the collection and distribution of pacemakers all over South Africa, making these donated devices available for free* to families who need them for their dogs. At this stage, the pacemakers can only be used for dogs.

Pacemakers need to be removed prior to cremation.

Pacemakers can be reused for dogs with cardiac issues.

The device must have a remaining lifespan of 5 years or more.

The implant record card must be provided together with the device.

Pacemakers can be dropped off at our Roodepoort, Florida, or Fourways branches, where they will be donated on your behalf.

*Devices are free, but the operation costs will still apply.

We offer routine cleaning and graveside upkeep services across local cemeteries.

Services include:

Gentle headstone cleaning
Grass trimming and weed removal
Debris clearing
Fresh flower placement (on request)
Before and after photo updates

Cremations

We arrange all documentation on your behalf. Should a post mortem examination be deemed necessary, we arrange it at our mortuary facility. We also provide an engraved wooden urn for storage of the ashes. We can assist with the internment of the ashes into a wall of remembrance or into an existing grave. Consent letters to send ashes abroad can be provided.

Tombstones

We can source gravestones, headstones and tombstones. These stones can be tailored according to your requirements.

Memorials

We can help with all your funeral arrangements. During a time of great grief it is essential to spend as much time as you can with your family. This is where our team of experts step in to take this great burden off your shoulders. We offer our upgraded and renovated chapel with full catering facilities where bereaved families can find comfort in warm, suitable surroundings.
